When and how did you get into drifting and/or other motor sports?
My boyfriend got me into drifting about two years ago. (Thanks babe! Muahz) He would let me sit in the car with him, let me watch drift videos and take me to events. Well, he took me to the Drift Showoff and we met Benson Hsu, my drift guru! He told me about Nadine Toyoda his girlfriend that is the best girl drifter around at the moment and why she drifted and it inspired me to drift also. So, I signed up for Drift Day 10 because Benson told me it will be fun and to try it out. At Drift Day 10 I met Nadine and the rest of the drifting community. In December of 2003 I joined the Drifting Pretty Program-an all-female drift training program. In September of 2004 I joined Team Drifting Pretty, a branch of the program for ladies interested in competing. And, I have been drifting my dreams away ever since!!

What was the first car you used for drifting?
The first car I used for drifting is my Pretty S13 that I currently have.

How did it work out for you?
It worked out great! Tires, Maintenance, and all that other necessary stuff costs a lot but I still LOVE drifting! I’ve been having a blast learning from the best instructors and friends. It’s so amazing to be a female out on the track and I only hope to inspire for ladies to come out and drive, not watch. I want to set the bar high for aspiring members.

What was your most practiced technique?
My most practiced technique is the E-Brake! I love it although I am learning how to clutch kick.

What is it now?
I stay true to my most favored and used technique-the e-brake. Even still, I am working on perfecting new techniques.

Where are you looking to improve?
I am looking to improve my driving style. I want to be more consistent, get a course the first time I drive it, learn a better line, get better angles, be good at drifting high speeds, and impress everyone watching. I also want to improve high speed third gears and third/second gear donuts

What types of events have you participated it?
I have participated in Drift Day, Just Drift, SCCA Solo 2, Speedtrial USA Road Race, and Storm Karting practice events!

What type of events have you competed in?
I have competed in only three events! The first would be the Drifting Pretty’s Dori Puri Challenge at Willow Springs Balcony. The second is the Solo 2 Auto X Championship. The third event is the Drift Day Competition. All the events were a blast and I learned so much!

What do you find challenging?
The most challenging part of drifting is finding the right line and knowing when to slow down or not, depending on the course layout.

Who are your influences?
The first one would be my boyfriend, Raymond. He taught me everything I know about my car, drifting, and the meaning of true love. He’s always been so supportive about everything I do and willing to invest so much time and money. Thanks again, my #1 sponsor! Hehe The second influence is Benson Hsu, my drift guru. He also taught me everything I know about drifting and introduced me to the drifting community. Another influence is the ladies of Team Drifting Pretty. They are my best girlfriends and drifting buddies. Always willing to lend a hand, give advice, and a ride every time my car is out of commission (Thanks Noelle!). Nadine has influenced me the most out of all the girls. She has inspired me and taught me so much about writing proposals, classiness, and so much more. Lastly, my family is also my influence-the biggest and thanks for everything!

What modifications would you like to have in the future?
I would like to get a custom roll cage, Denso Fuel Pump, TE37 wheels, full body kit, T28 turbo, Bride Ergo racing seats, Takata harness, Z32 brake conversion, Project M brakes and rotors, 5-lug conversion, an Intercooler, Steering Wheel Quick Release Hub, and other goodies! Megan Stainless Steel Turbo Outlets (: TO-NS13)

What are your future plans in drifting?
I plan to compete in Formula Drift and other local competitions. I also really want to compete in the RS-R festival and Drift Showoff. And, of course have fun!!

Your thoughts on the future of drifting?
I believe that drifting is getting too big. It seems like everyone wants to try it out. My advice is to drift at a sanctioned track event. Drifting is fun and tempting but I want drifting to get a good image. When people think about drifting they just think negative and it shouldn’t be like that.

Anything else you would like us to know about you?
I am proud to be Vietnamese and Chinese American! I am also the youngest active drifting member in the Drifting Pretty Program. I love e-mails, support, scrapbooking, working on my car, and shopping! I also want to say thanks to everyone for the support! To find out more about me check out www.PrettyS13.com OR www.DriftingPretty.com
