When and how did you get into drifting and/or other motor sports?
I moved to Okinawa in 1991 at the age of 14 and the car scene was huge there. It was kind of hard not to get into it at that time. You couldn’t drive down a road without seeing at least one modified car that made you go “oooooo”. There were several spots where 30 – 100+ people would hang out and drift every night. Most of them were Okinawan as there were only a handful of American guys into it.

What was the first car you used for drifting?
1985 AE86

How did it work out for you?
Loved it but bent the frame from drifting into a curb. It was a very good car to start off from and taught me how to handle a car.

What was your most practiced technique?
Probably Power-over, E-brake and Feint

What is it now?
All depends on the corner but it’s usually Feint, Heal-Toe and/or E-brake to hold my angle.

Where are you looking to improve?
Angle

What types of events have you participated it?
Gymkhana and Drifting

What type of events have you competed in?
Various Gymkhana and Drifting events in Okinawa; Mid-Month Massacre and Civil War in the U.S. although I left the Civil War before the actual event. I was exhausted that day and didn’t think I could make the drive home if I stayed.

What do you find challenging?
High speed drifting while keeping angle. I’ve done a lot of gymkhana and am used to technical courses.

Who are your influences?
Matt Hutchins; Awesome mechanic among other things; Robert McNabb, Ken Fujita and Naoto Kawamitsu are all awesome drifters and all in Okinawa.

What modifications would you like to have in the future?
Koyo Aluminum Radiator
Flex-a-Lite Electric Fan
Oil Cooler
MSD 6AL
Supertech 8.5:1 Coated Pistons
ARP Head Bolts
Ported & Polished Head
Pauter Machine Billet Connecting Rods
Cometic Head Gasket
MSD 72lb Injectors
GReddy Profec B 2
AEM Engine Management System
Carbon Fiber Hood
Metallic Silver Paint Job (I’m still unsure of the color I want)

What are your future plans in drifting?
I got here in late Jun 04 and bought my 240, started modifying it in late Aug 04 trying to get it ready for the next season. I have almost completed it so 2005 will be my first full season in the U.S. and I plan on entering everything I can. I have a few friends in Vegas so I may head out there too.
I’ll probably drift until I get too old to drive.

Your thoughts on the future of drifting?
It can only get more popular since it’s relatively new to the U.S. I hope it doesn’t get too big though.

Anything else you would like us to know about you?
Nope
